English and Dutch revolutions – similarities and differences.

Similarities:

1. Religious reasons, Protestants against Catholics (Anglicans in England. Calvinists in the Netherlands).

2. Economic reasons – the bourgeoisie against the feudal landowning nobility.

Differences:

1. Netherlands – the revolution led to the emergence of an independent state, it was recognized in 1648. Liberation struggle against Spain.

2. England. The authorities of foreign states were not fought against, the civil war was between the supporters of the king and the parliament. There was no civil war in the Netherlands.

3. In the Netherlands, the process lasted 70 years, in England hardly 20 and there was a fact of the restoration of the monarchy.
