| In the condition, we are given two points with coordinates A (0; 4); and B (-2; 0) we need to equate the straight line passing through these points.
To do this, we will compose and solve a system of equations.
The linear equation is y = kx + b.
We substitute the coordinates of the points into this equation instead of x and y and compose a system of equations:
4 = k * 0 + b;
0 = -2 * k + b;
System of equations:
b = 4;
-2k + 4 = 0.
We find the value of k:
-2k = -4;
k = -4: (-2);
k = 2.
System:
b = 4;
k = 2.
Let’s make the equation:
y = 2x + 4.
Answer: y = 2x + 4.
