Evaluate how the laws of Hammurabi obliged you to act? 1.With debtors 2.With slaves

About slaves:

1) the slave could challenge his status in court;
2) the slave was the property of the owner;
3) they did not kill the slaves as punishment – they could simply injure them (for example, cut off an ear);
4) the release of the slave from the master’s authority was allowed;
5) the slave could have property, which after death passed to the owner.

Debtors:

1) the debtor remained the owner of his property;
2) the law to protect the life of the debtor and his family, if it helped to pay off the debt;
3) the debtor could work off his debt from the usurer within three years. After this time, he was released from work, even if the debt was not fully paid off.

From this it is clear that the laws of Hammurabi were not particularly cruel to people in difficult situations – slaves and debtors.
