Examples in favor of Normanists and Anti-Normanists.

The Normanists advocate that the state of the Slavs was formed only with the participation of the Normans, or the Varangians, as they were called in Russia.

For proof, they take “The Tale of Bygone Years”, where there is a passage describing the vocation of the Norman prince Rurik to rule in Novgorod.

The second thing they put forward is that Oleg was one of the people of Rurik, and in 882 he began to rule in Kiev, making it the center of the state.

The anti-Normanists contradict the Normanists by putting forward the following arguments.

1. To invite to reign, you already had to have this institution of power. Consequently, there were Slavic princes before Rurik, and Rurik was invited to settle the conflict.

2. The state cannot be an object of export, and long before Oleg came to Kiev, the glades developed state traditions, such as princely power, a tax collection system, a territory controlled by Kiev.
