Explain the relationship between the structure of planktonic organisms and their habitat.

Plankton are organisms that live in the water column. Therefore, many planktonic organisms, in particular very small ones, including unicellular ones, have special structural elements that enable them to float freely in the water column:
1. Spherical or similar body shape
2. Spine-like outgrowths, sails, legs, thanks to which water presses evenly from all sides and provides passive stability
3. Air pockets
4. Fat droplets for buoyancy.
