Explain what matrix synthesis reactions are. Why are they called that?

This is the synthesis of complex polymer molecules in living cells, based on the genetic information of the cell encoded on the matrix (DNA molecule, RNA). Matrix synthesis occurs during DNA replication, transcription and translation. It underlies the process of reproducing one’s own kind.
