Explain why metallurgy has been a specialization of the Urals for centuries

The region’s specialization in this industry is associated with the resource factor; in the Urals there are deposits of almost all ferrous and non-ferrous metals. For example, in the region of Kachkanar there is iron ore, and in the region of Magnitnaya Mountain in the 1930s a whole new city with a specialization in metallurgy – Magnitogorsk – arose.

Metallurgy in the Urals appeared in the 17th century, the first factories appeared not even in mountainous regions, but to the east and west of the mountains, in Piskor of the Perm Territory and the Ust-Nitsinsky plant near Irbit. These were 1630-1640s.
