Explain why nationality is neither a merit nor a defect of a person?

Everything is very simple. We do not choose what nationality we should be born with. We were born and that’s it, it can’t be changed. We cannot earn ourselves a different nationality. No matter how many good things we do, we will not become a different nationality. And no matter how badly we do, we will not be punished for it by changing our nationality. The disadvantage may be a person’s character trait, or some negative act, but not nationality. This is the same as saying – a dog has such a defect that it is a dog, and a person has a merit – that he is a person!
