Explain why rich people in ancient Greece tried to live outside the city?

Wealthy people in Ancient Greece preferred to live outside the city solely because the city was a concentrate of various social groups. Poor people went to work in the city, since they could not feed themselves on their own. And rich people mostly settled outside the city, rebuilding their homes. Plus, there was a huge amount of unoccupied land outside the city.
