Express your opinion on the dispute between supporters and opponents of the Norman theory.

Supporters of the Norman theory argue that the statehood of Russia began with the appearance on the lands of the Slavs of the Varangian kings, who ruled here in 862. These events are displayed in the “Tale of Bygone Years”, when the Novgorodians called the Vikings to their lands. In this connection, in 862 to 879, Rurik ruled in Novgorod, who was considered a Varangian. Opponents of this theory argue that the Slavs could organize a state even without the Varangians. In my opinion, the Norman theory is logical in the event that the Varangians were the rulers of Russia for a short time, but the state, Kievan Rus, arose even before them.
