Features of living organisms in the mountains.

Depending on the location of the mountains, their structure, steepness, exposure to the sun and wind, living organisms are adapted for survival in different ways. For example, the plants in the mountains are low (for example, dwarf birch and willow). This saves them from the winds in the summer, and in the winter from the cold, since the snow completely covers the plants. Herbaceous plants often spread along the surface of stones, have long roots that branch out on the surface and go deep into crevices in search of moisture. Some species of animals have also adapted to live in the mountains. Due to the fact that there is not enough oxygen, mountain animals have increased lung capacity and heart size. This helps to get more oxygen. The climate in the mountains often changes even during the day. In search of food and warmth, many animals migrate from one slope to another. In winter, animals develop an undercoat, and some species have a white coat.
