Features of the development of Christian states in the Iberian Peninsula.

During the early Middle Ages, the Christian states of the Iberian Peninsula (kingdom of the Visigoths) were conquered by the Arabs. From the beginning of the VIII century, the Reconquista began, which lasted until 1492. Consequently, the states of the Iberian Peninsula developed in conditions of constant wars with the Arabs and Moors, therefore there are many castles there. The states were as follows: Leon, Castile, Aragon, Portugal, Navarra. At the end of the 15th century, the Kingdom of Spain was formed by the unification of Aragon and Castile. At the beginning of the 16th century, the Kingdom of Navarre became part of it, and in 1580-1640 there was a union of Spain and Portugal. The peninsula remained completely Catholic in the 16th century, despite the reformation in Europe.
