Features of the external structure of the crocodile.

The body shape is similar to that of lizards, but much larger and denser. The head is flattened, the eyes, ears and nostrils are located on elevations, due to which, when an individual is immersed in water, only them are visible above its surface. For movement in the water, they have a tail squeezed from the sides and membranes on their paws, all this allows them to swim well and maneuver in the water. They have a special structure of the skin, which distinguishes them from most other representatives of reptiles – it is constantly renewed throughout life. In addition, the skin is very thick and covered with scales that protect it from injury, participate in thermoregulation and even store mineral and other substances.
