| 1. ∠ABO and ∠VOS are adjacent.
2. We take the value ABO for x, the value ∠BOC for y.
3. Let’s compose two equations:
x + y = 180 ° (according to the property of adjacent angles);
x – y = 40 ° (according to the problem statement);
4. Adding these equations, we get one equation with one unknown:
2x = 220 °;
x = 110 °.
5. Substitute x = 110 ° into the first equation:
110 ° + y = 180 °;
y = 180 ° – 110 ° = 70 °.
∠ABO = 110 °.
∠VOS = 70 °.
Answer: the degree measure ∠ABO is equal to 110 °, the degree measure of the adjacent ∠BOC = 70 °.
