Find out the formulas of unknown substances, make up the equations of chemical reactions
Find out the formulas of unknown substances, make up the equations of chemical reactions, the schemes of which are given below: H2S – x- SO2- y – H2SO4 – MgSO4.
We are given a chain of reactions in the task, we need to find unknown substances, without which the subsequent chain of transformations of substances is not possible.
The first reaction is the decomposition of hydrogen sulfide into hydrogen and sulfur. We write the reaction equation as follows:
H2S = H2 + S
The second reaction is the production of tetravalent sulfur oxide by combining sulfur and oxygen.
S + O2 = SO2
The third reaction is the reaction of the interaction of tetravalent sulfur oxide and water with the formation of sulfurous acid.
SO2 + H2O = H2SO3
The fourth reaction takes place between substances such as sulfurous acid, water and chlorine. Two acids are formed, sulfuric and hydrochloric.
H2SO3 + Cl2 + H2O = H2SO4 + 2 HCl
And the last reaction is the reaction of hydrochloric acid and magnesium hydroxide in order to obtain the magnesium sulfate salt we need and water is released.
Mg (OH) 2 + H2SO4 = MgSO4 + 2 H2O.
