| An isosceles triangle is a triangle with equal sides. In an isosceles triangle, the angles at the base are equal. The sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180 °.
1. One of the angles at the base is x degrees.
2. The angle at the apex of the triangle is (x – 24) degrees.
3. Let’s compose and solve the equation.
x + x + (x – 24) = 180;
x + x + x – 24 = 180;
3x = 180 + 24 = 204;
3x = 204;
x = 204/3 = 68;
x = 68;
Answer: The angles at the base of the triangle are x = 68 °. The angle at the apex of the triangle is x – 24 = 68 – 24 = 44 °.
