| The area of a circle is calculated by the formula:
S = nr ^ 2, where r = radius of the circle.
By hypothesis, n = 22/7.
a) Calculate the area of the circle:
22/7 * 7 ^ 2 = 22/7 * 49 = 154 cm2.
b) Calculate the radius of the circle if it is half the diameter:
42: 2 = 21 cm.
Let’s calculate the area of a circle:
22/7 * 21 ^ 2 = 22/7 * 441 = 1386 cm2.
Answer: the area of the circle is a) 154 cm2; b) 1386 cm2.
