1. Vertices of the rectangle A, B, C, D. AC = 74 centimeters. AD = 74 centimeters.

2. Calculate the length of the other side (CD) of a given geometric figure. For this we use the Pythagorean theorem:

CD = √AC² – AD² = √74² – 70² = √5476 – 4900 = √576 = 24 centimeters.

3. Calculate the area (S) of a given geometric figure:

S = AD x CD = 70 x 24 = 1680 centimeters².

Answer: the area of the rectangle ABCD is 1680 centimeters².
