| 1. Vertices of the triangle – A, B, C. ∠C = 90 °. BC = 8 cm. AB = 17 cm.
2. Find the length of the AC leg:
AC = √AB² – BC² = √17² – 8² = √289 – 64 = √225 = 15 cm.
3. Calculate the area (S) of a given triangle:
S = AC x BC / 2 = 15 x 8/2 = 60 cm².
Answer: the area of a given triangle is 60 cm².
