Find the area of the diagonal section of a cube if the length of the edge of the cube is 12 cm

Let’s find out what value the diagonal of the face of our cube will equal if from the condition of our problem we know for sure that the length of the edge is 12 centimeters:

d ^ 2 = 2a ^ 2;

d = a√2;

d = 12√2.

The figure of the diagonal section will be a rectangle in which the sides will be the diagonal found above and the edge of the cube.

Let’s find out what the desired area will be equal to, for which we use the well-known area formula for a rectangle:

12 * 12√2 = 144√2.

Answer: The cross-sectional area will be equal to 144√2 cm2.
