Find the area of the parallelogram ABCD if BC = 2 dm and BH = 5 cm.

Given:
ABCD – parallelogram,
BC = 2 decimetres,
ВН – height,
BH = 5 centimeters.
Find the area of the parallelogram ABCD -?
Decision:
1) Consider the parallelogram ABCD. In a parallelogram, the opposite angles are equal, that is, BC = AD and AB = CD;
2) The area of the parallelogram is equal to the product of the height by the side to which this height is drawn. Hence:
S parallelogram ABCD = BH * AD;
S parallelogram ABCD = 20 centimeters * 5 centimeters;
S parallelogram ABCD = 100 square centimeters.
Answer: 100 square centimeters.
