Find the area of the trapezoid, the bases of which are 45 cm and 68 cm, the side side is 36 cm

Find the area of the trapezoid, the bases of which are 45 cm and 68 cm, the side side is 36 cm and the angle at it is 30 degrees.

Opposite the angle of 30 °, draw the height in the trapezoid, we get a right-angled triangle with a hypotenuse of 36 cm;

sin 30 ° = 1/2, so the opposite side is equal to half the hypotenuse:

h = 36/2 = 18 cm – trapezoid height;

The area is equal to the product of the half-sum of the bases and the height of the trapezoid:

S = (45 + 68) / 2 * 18;

S = 1017 cm².
