The center (x; 0) lies on the Ox axis. The distance from (1; 4) to it is 5, that is
(x – 1) ^ 2 + (4 – 0) ^ 2 = 52,
(x – 1) ^ 2 = 9,
x – 1 = -3 or x – 1 = 3
x = -2 or x = 4.
Answer: (-2; 0) or (4; 0)
