Find the coordinates of points A and B, if it is known that the distance between them is equal to 8 unit segments, and the coordinate of point C, the middle of the segment AB, is equal to 3.

C is the middle of segment AB, therefore point A is to the left of point C by half the length of segment AB and B is located to the right of point C by half the length of segment AB.

Find half the length of the segment AB:

8/2 = 4.

Find the coordinates of point A:

3 – 4 = – 1.

Find the coordinates of point B:

3 + 4 = 7.
