Find the Intersection Point of the Graphs y = 2-3x, y = -0.3x + 4

To find the point of intersection of the straight lines y = 2 – 3x, y = -0.3x + 4, the equations of which are given to us, we will solve a system of these equations.

System of equations:

y = 2 – 3x;

y = -0.3x + 4.

Now we will use the substitution method to solve the system. We substitute in the first equation -0.3x + 4 instead of the variable y and we get the system:

-0.3x + 4 = 2 – 3x;

y = 2 – 3x.

Let’s solve the first equation of the system and find the variable x:

-0.3x + 4 = 2 – 3x;

-0.3x + 3x = 2 – 4;

2.7x = -2;

x = -2: 2.7;

x = -20/27;

System of equations:

x = -20/27;

y = 2 – 3 * (-20/27) = 2 + 20/9 = 2 + 2 2/9 = 4 2/9.
