Find the length of the broken line ABCD if AB 7 cm, BC 28 cm, CD 96.
Let us denote through the variable X the value of the desired length of our broken line, through the variable A the value of the length of the first link AB, equal to 7 cm, through the variable B, the value of the length of the second link BC, equal to 28 cm, and through the variable C, the value of the length of the third link CD, equal to 96 cm.
Let’s find the required value of the length of our polyline using the following formula.
X = A + B + C.
X = 7 + 28 + 96.
X = 35 + 96.
X = 131 cm.
Now we will convert the resulting value into m cm, based on the following calculations.
1 m = 100 cm.
Therefore, we obtain the following results.
X = 131 cm = 131: 100 = 1 + 31 (remainder) = 1 m 31 cm.
Thus, we get that the length of our broken line is 1 m 31 cm or 131 cm.
