| 1. Let’s write down the reaction equation:
CaO + CO2 = CaCO3.
2. Find the amount of calcium oxide and carbon dioxide (Vm – molar volume, constant equal to 22.4 l / mol):
n (CaO) = m (CaO) / M (CaO) = 112 g / 56 g / mol = 2 mol.
n (CO2) = V (CO2) / Vm = 50 l / 22.4 l / mol = 2.23 mol.
3. According to the reaction equation, it can be seen that calcium oxide is in short supply, therefore we find the amount of calcium carbonate according to it:
n (CaCO3) = n (CaO) = 2.23 mol.
m (CaCO3) = n (CaCO3) * M (CaCO3) = 2.23 mol * 100 g / mol = 223.2 g.
Answer: m (CaCO3) = 223.2 g.
