Find the mass of water that was formed during the combustion of pentane with a volume of 11.2 liters.

Combustion of pentane: C5H12 + 8O2 = 5CO2 + 6H2O.
1) Find the amount of pentane substance. For this, the volume given in the problem is divided by the molar volume: 11.2 / 22.4 = 0.5 mol.
2) Find the amount of water substance. One mole of pentane accounts for six moles of water (according to the reaction equation). Thus, the amount of water substance is: 0.5 / 6 = 0.08 mol.
3) Find the mass of water. To do this, we multiply the amount of water substance by its molar mass. Molar mass of water (according to the periodic table): 2 * 1 + 16 = 18.
Weight of water: 0.08 * 18 = 1.44g – the answer.
