Find the perimeter of a rectangle if it is made up of two pieces of a 144cm2 square cut in half.

We find the length of the side of the square, for this we extract the root of its area, since the area is equal to the product of the length and the width, and the sides of the square are equal:
√144 = 12 cm.
The square was cut in half, so in the resulting rectangles one side remained 12 cm, and the second:
12: 2 = 6 cm.
From these rectangles, a new rectangle was folded, the width of which is 6 cm, and the length is:
12 + 12 = 24 cm.
Let’s calculate the perimeter of this rectangle, for this we add all its sides:
6 + 6 + 24 + 24 = 60 cm.
Answer: The perimeter of the rectangle is 60 cm.
