The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of the lengths of its sides. Let’s denote the perimeter of the triangle as P, and the length of its side as L.
It is also worth noting that an equilateral triangle has the same sides. Therefore, P = L + L + L = 3 * L.
From the problem statement:
P – L = 12 cm.
Accordingly,
3 * L – L = 12
2 * L = 12
L = 12/2
L = 6 cm.
The length of one side of the triangle is 6 cm.
Find the perimeter of the triangle: P = 3 * 6 cm = 18 cm.
Answer: 18 cm.
