1. The tops of the parallelogram – A, B, C, D. S = 42 cm² – the area of the parallelogram. BК = 7 cm – height (drawn to the CD side). BE = 3 cm – height (drawn to the AD side).

2. S = CD x BK = 42 cm².

СD = 42: BК = 42: 7 = 6 cm.

3. S = AD x BE = 42 cm².

AD = 42: 3 = 14 cm.

4.CD + AD = 6 + 14 = 20 cm.

5.Considering that the sides of the parallelogram opposite each other are equal, its perimeter (P) is calculated by the formula:

P = 2 (CD + AD) = 2 x 20 = 40 cm.

Answer: P is 40 centimeters.
