Find the point of intersection of the graphs of the linear functions y 2x + 5 and y 4x-1.

To find the point of intersection of the graphs of the linear functions y = 2x + 5 and y = 4x – 1, it is necessary to equate the right sides of the equations and, having solved the resulting equation, find the abscissa x of the intersection point.

2x + 5 = 4x – 1;

2x – 4x = – 1 – 5;

-2x = – 6;

x = – 6: (- 2);

x = 3 – we will substitute in any of the equations (in which – it does not matter, since the answers will be the same), for example, in the first;

y = 2x + 5 = 2 * 3 + 5 = 6 + 5 = 11.

Answer. (3; 11).
