| Find the pressure that the kerosene exerts on the bottom of the tank if the height of the kerosene layer in the tank is h = 20 cm.
To find out the required pressure that a layer of poured kerosene exerts on the bottom of the used tank, we apply the formula: Phydr = ρк * g * h.
Const (according to the condition): ρк – density of kerosene in the tank (ρк = 800 kg / m3); g – acceleration due to gravity (g ≈ 10 m / s2).
Data: h is the height of the poured kerosene layer (h = 20 cm, in the SI system h = 0.2 m).
Let’s perform the calculation: Phydr = ρk * g * h = 800 * 10 * 0.2 = 1.6 * 10 ^ 3 Pa.
Answer: At the bottom of the used tank, kerosene must exert a pressure of 1.6 kPa.
