1. The tops of the trapezoid – A, B, C, D. Perimeter (P) = 36 centimeters. MK = 10 centimeters – middle line. AB = CD.
2. MK = (BC + AD / 2 = 10 centimeters.
BC + AD = 20 centimeters.
3. P = AB + CD + BC + AD = 36 centimeters. Substitute in this expression BC + AD = 20 centimeters:
AB + CD + 20 = 36 centimeters.
AB + CD = 36 – 20 = 16 centimeters.
4. AB = CD = 16: 2 = 8 centimeters.
Answer: the sides of the trapezoid AB = CD = 8 centimeters
