| The area of the rectangle (S) is determined by the formula:
S = a * b, where a is the length of the rectangle, b is its width.
With the known area and one of the sides of the rectangle, you can calculate the second side by the formula:
a = S: b,
b = S: a.
Find the side of the rectangle if S = 72 cm ^ 2, b = 9 cm:
a = 72: 9 = 8 cm.
The perimeter of a rectangle (P) is equal to the sum of the lengths of all its sides:
P = a + b + a + b = 2a + 2b = 2 * (a + b).
Let’s define the perimeter of a given rectangle:
P = 2 * (8 + 9) = 2 * 17 = 34 cm.
Answer: 9 cm; 34 cm.
