| A rectangle is a quadrilateral in which all corners are right and opposite sides are equal.
The area of a rectangle is equal to the product of its length and width:
S = AB * BC.
Since the sides of the rectangle are 5: 7, we express it as follows:
5x – the length of the rectangle AB;
7x – width of the BC rectangle;
5x * 7x = 140;
35x ^ 2 = 140;
x ^ 2 = 140/35 = 4;
x = √4 = 2;
AB = 5 * 2 = 10 cm;
BC = 7 * 2 = 14 cm.
Answer: the sides of the rectangle are equal to AB = 10 cm, BC = 14 cm.
