Find the surface area of an object in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped in square meters

Find the surface area of an object in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped in square meters: a) width 0.05m, length 0.038m, height 0.015m b) width 0.50m, length 0.90m, height 0.52m

The surface area of a rectangular parallelepiped is equal to twice the sum of the areas of the three faces of the parallelepiped, that is, Sпов = 2 (ab + bc + ac);

a, b, c – width, length and height;

Find the surface area:

a) S = 2 * (0.05 * 0.038 + 0.038 * 0.015 + 0.05 * 0.015) = 2 * (0.0019 + 0.00057 + 0.00075) = 2 * 0.00322 = 0.00644 m ^ 2;

b) S = 2 * (0.5 * 0.9 + 0.9 * 0.52 + 0.5 * 0.52) = 2 * (0.45 + 0.468 + 0.26) = 2 * 1.178 = 2.356 m ^ 2.
