Find the volume of a straight prism with a side edge of 5 cm, if it is based on a rectangle with sides of 3 cm and 4 cm

As we know from the school geometry course, the volume of a straight prism can be calculated using the product of the area of its base by the height (lateral edge).

Let us find out how many square centimeters the area of the rectangle is expressed, which lies at the base of our prism, if from the condition of the problem we know for sure that its dimensions are 3 and 4 centimeters, respectively:

3 * 4 = 12.

Let’s find out how many cubic centimeters the volume of the prism is expressed:

5 * 12 = 60.

Answer: Volume = 60 cm3.
