1) Based on the formula:
mass fraction of solute in solution = mass of solute: mass of solution * 100%, where, according to the condition of the problem:
mass fraction of substance = 6%;
solution weight 5 kg = 5000 g,
find the value of the mass of the solute (sodium chloride NaCl):
6% = x: 5000 * 100%, therefore
x = 6%: 100% * 5000 g = 300 g.
2) find the mass of water:
mass of water = mass of solution – mass of solute = 5000 g – 300 g = 4700 g.
Answer: to obtain 5 kg of 6 – percent brine, you need to take 300 g of table salt and 4700 g of water.
