For what purpose were the states-general created?

The “States General” were created in France by King Philip the Fourth in 1302. The reason for the convocation of the estate – representative body was the decision of the king to continue the war for Flanders. The king needed money for the war and this led to higher taxes. A decision was also required in relation to the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Boniface the Eighth, who threatened to excommunicate the king from the holy sacraments. The high meeting discussed issues of the status of cities, aggravated social contradictions. The main issue of the convocation was the strengthening of the feudal system in the state.
