Forms of land tenure in Western Europe.

In Western Europe, there were such forms of land tenure:

1) Allod – represented a completely independent possession;

2) Bonfitsy – a conditionally hereditary form of land ownership, which implied the performance of military service by a feudal lord;

3) Feud is also a conditionally hereditary form of land ownership, which implied acceptance of a vassal dependence on the lord, who gave the land. Such an oath forced the vassal to fight for his lord, and also, if the need arose, to ransom him from captivity.
