From the list of these substances, select those with which sulfuric acid reacts: copper, oxygen, copper oxide, sulfur oxide, copper hydroxide, barium nitrate

We are given substances, copper, chemical formula Cu, oxygen, chemical formula O2, copper oxide – CuO, copper hydroxide – Cu (OH) 2, barium nitrate salt – Ba (NO3) 2. Let’s consider which of them can interact by means of a chemical reaction with sulfuric acid, which has the chemical formula H2SO4.

1) H2SO4 + Cu = no reaction.

2) H2SO4 + O2 = no reaction.

3) Sulfuric acid and calcium oxide, we get copper sulfate salt and water.

H2SO4 + CuO = CuSO4 + H2O

4) Reaction of sulfuric acid and bivalent copper hydroxide. Copper sulfate salt and water are formed.

H2SO4 + Cu (OH) 2 = CuSO4 + 2 H2O

5) Sulfuric acid and barium nitrate salt reacts chemically and form barium sulfate salt and nitric acid.

H2SO4 + Ba (NO3) 2 = BaSO4 + 2 HNO3.
