From two berths, the distance between which is equal to 180 km, two boats simultaneously left towards each other. How many hours will the boats meet if the speed of the first boat is 43 km / h, and the speed of the second is 47 km / h

1. We take as x time, after which the meeting of river vessels will take place.

2. One of the river vessels will move 43 kilometers from the berth to the meeting point, the other – 47 kilometers.

3. Taking into account that the total length of the path traveled by river vessels is equal to the distance between the berths, we compose the equation:

43x + 47x = 180;

90x = 180;

x = 2 hours.

Answer: the meeting of river vessels will take place 2 hours after their departure from the berths.
