General characteristics of France in the 7th century.

At the end of the 6th century, three independent regions were formed as part of the Frankish state: Neustria, Austrasia and the Meuse. Thus, power during the 7th century was in the hands of large majordoms, while the royal influence was insignificant. Also, there was a struggle between the mayordoms throughout the century. Only at the end of the 7th century was the Frankish state united by the mayords of Austrasia.
