General characteristics of sources of law of the 14th – 16th centuries.

At the end of the 15th century, Ivan 3 adopted the first and only collection of laws in Russia, the Code of Laws of 1497. It contained information on the norms of criminal and civil law, the measures and types of punishments were described. He also regulated relations between landowners and peasants (St. George’s Day was introduced, which designated the period when it was possible to move from one landowner to another). It also indicated the powers of local courts. With the help of this Code of Laws, the position of each social group was determined.
