Genetic links between hydrocarbons, alcohols and phenols. Make a chain of transformations.

Let’s write down the chain of transformations for organic substances:
CH4 – CH3Cl – C6H14 – C6H6 – C6H5Cl – C6H5OH;
Let’s implement the solution:
CH4 + Cl2 = CH3Cl + HCl – methane participates in the chlorination reaction, which occurs in the light, methane chloride is obtained;
CH3Cl + 2Na + C5H11Cl = C6H14 + 2NaCl – hexane was formed during the Wurtz reaction;
C6H14 = C6H6 + 4H2 – hexane dehydrogenation, benzene is released;
C6H6 + Cl2 = C6H5Cl + HCl – substitution, benzene chloride was formed;
С6Н5Cl + KOH = C6H5 – OH + KCl – exchange, phenol was obtained.
These reactions show the relationship between hydrocarbons and aromatic alcohol – phenol. The reaction products find practical applications, for example, phenol, are used in the production of phenol-formaldehyde plastics.
