Geographic features surrounding the East African Highlands.

Lakes Victoria and Edsoro, Margarita Peak, Mount Kenya, Mount Elgon, and Kilimanjaro Volcano are located near the northern part of the East African Plateau. To the west are the Kivu and Tanganyika lakes, the Lualabi river, the Mitimbo mountains; to the south – Lake Nyasa, the Muchingo Mountains, and the Ruvuma River. The eastern part of the plateau is washed by the Indian Ocean; the islands of Pemba and Zanzibar are located near the coast.
