The Mediterranean Sea is the largest sea in Europe. The inland sea of the Atlantic Ocean, connected to it by the Strait of Gibraltar. It also has connections with many seas.

Due to its size (2.5 million sq. Km.) It occupies a fairly large part of Europe. The sea is strongly elongated. The length of the sea from east to west is about 3800 kilometers, from south to west – about 1300 kilometers. It is located between 30 ° and 46 ° parallels and between 5 ° and 37 ° meridians.

The average depth of the sea is 1541 meters. At its deepest point, it has a depth of 5121 meters.
