1. Industrial method. Electrolysis:
2KCL + 2H2O ‘(electric current) = 2KOH + H2 + CL2;
2KOH + CO2 = K2CO3 + H2O
2. Laboratory method:
KOH + H2CO3 = K2CO3 + H2O
3. The laboratory receives:
K2O + CO2 = K2CO3
Potash, potassium carbonate are used for the production of detergents, as well as for disinfection of premises.
