Give a characterization of the chemical process and indicate the conditions for its shift in the direction of the direct reaction. SO2 ↑ + O2 ↑ ⇆SO3 ↑ + Q
A chemical reaction takes place between substances such as tetravalent sulfur oxide and oxygen. This reaction will proceed as a compound. As a result of this chemical interaction, we get hexavalent sulfur oxide. This reaction proceeds with the release of heat and therefore it can be called exothermic. The above reaction is homogeneous, since both substances that react are in the form of a gas. The reaction is reversible, since when heated, hexavalent sulfur oxide decomposes into tetravalent sulfur oxide and oxygen. The molecular equation of the reaction can be written as follows:
SO2 + O2 = SO3 + Q.
